Before 0900- Wake Up and Get Dressed

Get ready for the day with independence; have a wash, dress yourself, eat breakfast and brush your teeth.

0900-0930 - Reading

Can you retell the story of 'Mad About Minibeasts' in your own words?  Listening to the story again and drawing pictures, like a story map, could help you.  Alternatively, you could watch the story with no sound to tell the story yourself.  What can you remember about each different minibeast?

0930-1000- Writing Challenge

To warm up, start with some Handwriting - you could rewatch one of Mrs Cunningham's videos on Tapestry.

Your challenge today is to write two cool facts about your chosen minibeast.

If you want to, you could use the internet to find out some more interesting things.  I wonder if you can teach us a new fact! You may wish to watch this episode of Let’s Go For a Walk on BBC iplayer. Maybe you could go on your own walk too!

1000-1030- Home Learning Challenge (to continue after Break Time until 1130)

Choose a challenge!  We now have 4 Reception Home Learning Challenge Grids to choose from. :-)

1030-1100 Break Time

Have one healthy snack: a banana, apple, orange etc.  with a glass of milk or water.  Take some time to relax, maybe you could listen to another story online.

1100 - 1130- Home Learning Challenge

Continue your Home Learning Challenge that you started – don’t forget to try and upload it to Tapestry so that we can see it!

1130 - 1200 – Maths Challenge

Starter - Number of the Day: 18

Can you complete the Number of the Day poster?  You can use your own format if you want to or just do it practically!

Practise writing the number first (in the circle at the top – you could watch Ms Woolford’s number writing video to help you), then draw a pictorial representation of it in ‘the same as’ box.  After that, write and draw the number that is one less and one more than our number of the day.  Can you spot the numbers on a number line?

When we go shopping, we have to pay for items that we wish to buy in the shops.  Today we are going to start looking at money.  It would be really useful if you have some 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p coins.

When we talk about these coins we always say ‘p’ at the end of them.  ‘P’ stands for pennies.  This tells us how much the coin is worth.  The smallest amount we can have is a 1p coin.

Head over to Tapestry to watch the Maths video to find out more. Once you have watched the video, have a go at some of the money challenge pots on the sheets below.  There are lots of pots to practise counting amounts and making amounts with different coins.  Can you work out the value of the different jars?  Can you use the coins to make the correct amounts?

The sheets below are just a guide, feel free to explore making different amounts practically and finding the total of different combinations of coins.

P.s. Keep your bug pots!  We will be adding to them tomorrow. :-)

1200 - 1300 - Lunchtime

1300- 1330 - Phonics

Open Tapestry and watch the video ‘Set 1 Speed Sounds.’  Say the sounds along with Miss Bailey; can you remember them all and say them before she does?  You should watch and say your Speed Sounds every single day.  Don't forget to practise your red words as well!

Today we are revisiting – 'air'-that's not fair!

Log on to Tapestry to revisit the sound with Miss Golding.  Once you have had a warm up, read the green words and then complete the Spelling Activity which can be found in the 'Additional Resources' section.

1330 Onwards- Plan, Do, Review

Encourage your child to make a Learning Choice from a list of options (change these to suit) but they should include selecting from:

  • Indoor exercise (Cosmic Yoga - found on YouTube or GoNoodle);

  • Go for an afternoon walk;

  • A Home Learning Challenge;

  • A Forest School Challenge;

  • Be creative (craft, painting, playdough, baking);

  • Exercise (ride your bike, go for a run, play football/rugby);

  • Quiet activity (independent reading, puzzle, colouring, board game);

  • Screen time on a learning wesbite/app (links can be found on the ‘Useful Websites to Support Home Learning’ section of our COVID-19 Yr R Page).

When your child has made their choice, discuss: Where are they going to do their Learning Choice?  What exactly are they going to be doing?  How are they going to do it?

When they have completed their Learning Choice, Review it.  What went well?  How could they improve it?  You could revisit it tomorrow afternoon to improve.  What have they learnt?

When you have finished, enjoy some free time to yourself or to spend with your family.

We hope you have had a lovely day and we can’t wait to see your uploads on Tapestry.
