Wednesday 8th July

Philosophical discussion: Which song sums you up? It could be the lyrics or the music.

Here is our timetable for today:

Suggested times

Timetable

9 – 9:30

Joe Wicks PE session

https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1

9:30 – 10:30

Maths

  • Another investigation today thinking about the number 7. Lots of us turned 7 this year (so old!) and so your challenge is the create different number sentences, using all of your operations, that give you the number 7.
  • You have then got a square challenge to see how many different positions you can colour in the blue and yellow or red and green. Trial and improvement to find as many as possible!

10:30 – 10:45

Break

Get outside in the garden for a kick around, run around or a bit of fresh air.

10:45 – 11:10

SPaG - Unit 12 (p42) adding the suffix -less

  • Can you have someone at home to read you the dictation sentences (p54-55).
  • Let them test you on some of the words from this week.

11:10 – 12:00

Writing

  • Listen to Chapter 5 again taking notes on key points.
  • Look through the ‘diary writing must’ slides to remind yourself on how to write a diary.
  • Continue writing your diary entry from the events from Chapter 5. Remember to write from the perspective of your chosen character.
  • Check your writing with the success criteria.

12:00 – 1:00

Lunch

Go outside for a bit of fresh air and play a game!

1:00 – 1:30

Reading

  • Read or listen to Chapter 26 ‘The Army of Red Goblins’.

1:30 – 3:00

Enquiry

  • We’re learning some sea shanties today. As you hopefully know from our word of the day today, a shanty is a song that was usually sung by a sailor or pirate.
  • Follow the videos on today’s page which have the lyrics on them. Sing along with the songs ready for our pirate days in a couple of weeks.

3:00

End of the day

Enjoy spending some down time with your family.

Captain Cat and the Great Pirate Race - Chapter 5

The Enchanted Wood - Chapter 26 'The Army of Red Goblins'

A Pirate Went To Sea

Our first sea shanty is a piratey version of 'A Sailor went to Sea'

What Shall We Do With The Drunken Sailor

Our second shanty you might recognise is 'What Shall We do with the Drunken Sailor'

The Pirate Song

Our last song is called 'The Pirate Song' so it's the perfect shanty!
