Hello Year 5! *virtual hand shake - with a nose bump (like they do in Qatar, Yemen, Oman and the United Arab Emirates)*
Nous allons tres bien et vous? How many French animals can you remember? Can you remember 3 adjectives too? Today is Forest School, so we hope you enjoy the lovely weather and practice the VE songs. Which one do you like best?
Listed below is our suggested timetable for the day. Remember, you can adapt and edit the times you do these tasks to suit the timetable you have at home :-).
As mentioned before, we have aimed to choose activities which can be completed straight into books without printing - to help save ink - but if you feel printing would be helpful, that is entirely up to you! :-)
Word of the Day: Mature
Like you would in school, look up what this word means, what word group it belongs to, place it accurately into a sentence and work out what prefixes/ suffixes could be added (remember this last one doesn't always apply!).
09:00 - 09:30: Reading.
Read your book for 15 mins or more.
Have a go at the longer comprehension text. Open 'Reading Comprehension' and read 'Chapter 1: Down the Rabbit Hole'. Look at the 'Comprehension Question Booklet - find page 2 and answer Questions 1-16'. You will work through this tomorrow as well, so don't rush :-)
09:30 - 10:30: Maths.
Warm-Up: Spend some time on TT Rockstars. https://play.ttrockstars.com/
What timestable have you been finding more challenging? Spend some time getting someone to quiz you throughout the week!
Today, we're going to be continuing finding the perimeter of composite rectilinear shapes!
Re-watch the videos from yesterday to refresh your brain! Work through 'Wednesday 6th May - Maths Task Sheet'.
There is no expectation to complete all the tasks! Just do what you can :-).
10:30 - 10:45: Break.
It takes the average person about 3.5-4 minutes to run 800m. Can you run for that amount of time?
10:45 - 11:15: Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar.
Spend 15mins on Lexia or Spellzone if you have an account - how great if we could hand out more certificates?!
Look at the Flipchart PDF Grammar - Standard English and Double Negatives. Look through the slides for 'Wednesday 6th May'. Look at the example text and work through the questions. Can you identify the non-standard words which are in the given text? Work through the sentences and include the correct grammar to complete the sentence.
11:15 - 12:15: English.
Create a magazine interview.
Look at the video, for inspiration, of when Great Thunberg and Sir David Attenborough met and interviewed each other for Newsround. https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/50946345
12:15 - 1:15: Lunch.
Be sure to have something to eat and try to get some fresh air!
1:15 - 1:30: Quiet Reading.
Go on to the Wilderness War section of the website. Listen to Chapter 9 and 10 as Miss Martin reads it.
1:30 - 3:00:
Music practice for VE Day: practice the VE songs with Mr. Carradine!-

Now, back to Forest School Activities!
Well done everyone! We are continuing with the philosophical questions! They are just some funny little thoughts to get your brains working and everyone interacting (save your points for lunchtime or dinnertime or FaceTime - get your family involved!).
It will be interesting to hear what you think! :)
Here we go:
Is everything connected? Do your parents agree? Why or why not?
Yesterday's question:
What is love?
Mrs. Hudson: Love is so many things to so many people. There can be different types of love: romantic, family, friendship or for your pets. You can see the happiness on people's faces when they know they are loved.
Miss. Martin: Love comes in all shapes and sizes! I think of it as that 'warm and fuzzy' feeling. The way I love my parents, is different to the way I love Bou, for example. The way Bou loves cheese is different to the way she loves chasing foxes (which she sneakily did the other night, racing down the street, when "someone" accidentally left the back gate open! She safely returned, as she then remembered her love for Dentastix, which she has before bed!).
Have a great evening, Year 5! We look forward to seeing any ideas or work that you produced from today!
Log in on Thursday for some more exciting learning!
