Welcome to Week 5 of Remote learning!
Positive Mental Health Week!
This week we have lots of activities planned as we keep positive all the way through Lockdown 3.
Remember though if you do have any worries, to get them out of your head, by chatting to someone or writing them down. How will you look after your wellbeing today?
We enjoyed the discussions surrounding our Science experiments on Zoom, yesterday!
You are doing so amazingly well with your Home Learning and we are so proud of you.
Moreover, we're so impressed with the quality of work you are achieving - keep it up, Year 5 :-)
Keep uploading your work on Tapestry. We love to see it.
09:00 - 09:45: Class Daily Zoom Session!
It's been lovely to have so many of you join us for the calls so far. Make sure you have a paper and pen ready for the session, to make notes of key learning points and to be able to join in with the tasks :-).
Word of the Day: Pleasure
Look up what the word means, what word group it belongs to and place it accurately into a sentence.
09:45 - 10:30 Mathematics.
Step 8: Divide 2-digit by 1-digit [RECAP]
Today, we’re going to spend some time looking back over the learning we already know on Division. We're looking at dividing 2-digit numbers by a 1-digit number.
Work through the Wednesday 3rd February – Maths Activity.
It is really important to RE-WATCH the White Rose videos on the link – this will help remind you of what to do with the formal written method.
10:30 - 10:45 BREAK!
Get outside and enjoy the Winter air or try relaxing with some more Yoga!

What is a 'precis'?
Look at the sheet attached to find out how you can summarise or precis texts by focusing on topic sentences and key words.
We look forward to seeing this on Tapestry!
12:15 - 12:30 Class/Own Book.
Like we would in class with our class book, spend some time quiet reading or listening to the class book. The teachers have uploaded videos of themselves reading different chapters on Tapestry, so be sure to check :-).
12:30 - 1:30 LUNCH!
1:30 - 2:00 Reading Activity.
Read the quotations. Choose 1 to illustrate! Which one did you choose? Why? How could it inspire other people? Write your reason on the sheet.
Use the sheet or make a note in your book, completing the positive thought diary.
2 - 2:45pm RE
Look at the attached worksheet for further guidance.
2:45 - 3:20pm PSHE
Over the past few weeks, we have been looking at legal and illegal drugs and thinking about the effects on our bodies. This week, we want you to think about what you would do in certain situations. So even though you may like and respect your friends, sometimes you must stand up for yourself and say: 'NO.'
Complete the attached sheet thinking about your answers carefully. Discuss what you have written with your parents and older siblings too.
Philosophical Question to finish the day!
Yesterday's Q: What makes you happy?
Miss Martin: There are lots of things which make me happy . Seeing you guys on Zoom quickly became my favourite part of the day! I love going on adventures to new places; walks around National Trusts; visiting my favourite beach in Cornwall; spending time with family; having cosy nights in with candles or a bubble bath; swimming; really enjoying a book & discovering it's part of a series; cuddles with Bou; watching some of my favourite TV shows... the list goes on! I would say I'm easily pleased... I can't wait to do them all again!
Miss Chapman: FOOD! Food makes me sooo happy but this hasn't always been the case. Developing a positive relationship with food combined with exercise has made me happy. Spending time with family, friends, loved ones... although it looks different now seeing them on zoom or out in the fresh air just makes me appreciate the times more! Like Mrs Hudson says a daily highlight of mine is seeing each of you on Zoom. I leave on such a buzz
Mrs. Hudson: There are lots of things that make me happy. See you all on zoom- yes honestly- being with my family; enjoying the countryside; going to the beach, especially swimming in the sea;, doing silly things with my friends, chatting; dancing; going to art galleries; hearing jokes. In fact this has made me happy thinking of all these lovely things. Have a good day.
Today's Question: What would the world be like if we were all the same?
Spend some time during dinner or at some point in the evening, discussing this with the other people at home! We're sure there will be some interesting responses :-)
