Good morning Year 6!

What a change in the weather! We hope that you pulled on some wellies and had a run around in some puddles yesterday - a very refreshing change after all the hot sunshine recently!

Please remember that when doing your daily schoolwork to work at your own pace. Please do not worry if you haven't finished a piece of work - some of you will spend longer on one thing than another, and some work may appeal more to you than others. All we ask is that you have a go at things. We know that you are all trying your best - the work we set is (hopefully) interesting and keeping your mind busy, not causing you to feel upset because you are not finishing everything. Remember, if you have any questions, please either email us via 'schooloffice' or talk to us when we ring.

Right, let's get started...

8.50am Word of the Day sanctuary

Challenges:

- Find out what it means and write the definition in your own words!
- What is its word class? (Is it a noun, verb, adjective?)

- How many syllables does it have (clap each syllable to help you)?

- Can you find any synonyms or antonyms?

- Can you use it in an interesting sentence?

Are you able to use it, appropriately, when you are speaking or in any of your writing opportunities?

Finally, try to find the root of the word!

9am PE

Today is National Dance Day!

Maybe see if you can put your exercise routine with Joe Wicks to music to celebrate Dance Day! Or, simply put on some music and encourage the whole family to have a boogie - 'Dad dancing' is very entertaining (sorry Dad).

9.30am Independent reading

See if you can find any information on line about how to care for pets – reading up about this may give you some ideas for your writing today!

10am Comprehension

Barack Obama

You must be getting quite familiar by now with this ex-President of the USA. Today’s tasks are ‘Labelling’ and ‘True and False’. Good luck!

10.15am Maths

Hopefully you are confident in using your protractor now. Today we are going to be looking at angles in a triangle.

11am Take a break

11.20am Grammar

Copy these verbs into your exercise book:

chip,     run,    swim,     stop,    shop,     talk,     stir,    bore,   pat,     hope

Write as many of them as you can (maybe not all of them!) in sentences using different verb tenses, eg,

'Today I..., Tomorrow I will..., Yesterday I was...'.

Which words double their last letter when word building? Why?

11.30 Writing

Today and tomorrow we are going to write up our notes into a Care Guide – an information text.

12.30pm Lunch

1.30pm  - Science or French

Refer back to last Friday's learning and you will either have completed a french lesson or a science lesson.  This afternoon you can complete the lesson that you didn't do on Friday.
