09:00 - 09:45: Class Daily Zoom Session!     

It's been lovely to have so many of you join us for the calls so far. Make sure you have a paper and pen ready for the session, to make notes of key learning points and to be able to join in with the tasks :-).

Word of the Day:  Pharoah 

Look up what the word means, what word group it belongs to and place it accurately into a sentence.

09:45 - 10:30   Mathematics. 

Step 3: Equivalent Fractions (2) 

This week we will be starting our new mathematical topic of Fractions.  

Work through the sheet Wednesday 24th February – Maths Task.    

It is really important to watch the White Rose video on the link – this will help with your new learning! 

10:30 - 10:45   BREAK! 

Get outside and enjoy the soon to be Spring air if it is appropriate and safe to do so.  

Tennis: Practice your racket skills. You need a ball and a racket (this doesn’t have to be a tennis racket, it could be a table tennis bat or even a large spoon. You could also use a rolled-up ball of scrap paper as a ball). How many times can you hit the ball? Keep a record. What is your best score?

Flipchart PDF - Sentence Adverbs!  

Look through the slides for Wednesday 24th February. Look at the example text and work through the questions. Make notes on the information about adverbs if necessary. Then, have a go at the 2 activities focused on adverbs (1 where you write your own sentences using the given vocab and then some fluency questions). 

Remember, try some Lexia/Spellzone too! 

11:15 - 12:15   English/Writing. 

Imagine you are Rhodopis: 

Write a letter - on papyrus, of course - back to your family telling them of your arrival in Egypt, up to the point of your master giving you the dainty, red slippers. 

Remember to use:

• Past tense 
• Include feelings and emotions 
• Adverbial phrases (When I arrived in Egypt... As I sat by the pool... When I saw my master...) 
• Relative clauses (who... which... whose... that...)
• Subordinate clauses (If... Although... Even though...)

12:15 - 12:30   Class/Own Book.  

Like we would in class with our class book, spend some time quiet reading or listening to the class book, The Time Travelling Cat. The teachers have uploaded videos of themselves reading different chapters on Tapestry, so be sure to check :-).  

12:30 - 1:30   LUNCH! 

1:30 - 2:00   Reading. 

Go over and familiarise yourself again with the poem, Mummy! that we've looked at this week. 

Spend some time learning a couple of verses (or the whole piece!) thinking about how the poem will be performed. You'll work on this tomorrow too!. Try working with a friend (virtually!).

Consider the following questions when practising: 

• Expression: Do some of the words need to be read differently to others? How will you change your voice? 
• Volume: Are there any parts of the poem that need to be read loudly or quietly, shouted or whispered? 
• Speed: Are there any parts which will be spoken faster or slower? 
• Movements: Where will you include actions and what are you going to act out?  

2 - 2:45pm  RE Focus: 

Step into another's shoe's today. How would you respond? How would Jesus respond? 

Work through the given sheet and use what we looked at last term to help you with your responses. 

2:45 - 3:20pm   PSHE Focus:

This term, we will be examining people who are important to us and our relationships with them. 

Complete the Special Relationships sheet in the learning resources. 

Philosophical Question to finish the day! 

Yesterday's Q:  Would you rather eat fruit or vegetables for the rest of your life?  

Miss Martin: If I were to be brutally honest, there's a lot more fruit out there that I like, compared to vegetables. I love strawberries, blueberries, grapes, apples, nectarines etc... (that would make a mean fruit salad by the way!), whereas I grumble a bit when I have to eat vegetables. Not to say I don't like vegetables (I would happily gnaw on a carrot and I really like green beans) but 'for the rest of your life' is a long commitment... It has to be fruit for me! 

Miss Chapman: 

Mrs Hudson: Ohhhh! I like both, but I think vegetables for me. Think of all those crunchy carrots and lucious greens, such as spinach and my absolute favourite... Brussel sprouts! Who would want to give those up? I can see your faces

salivating at the thought of the. Tee! Hee!
