08:45 - 09:00 - Word of the day

Ideal

What does it mean?

Can you think of synonyms and antonyms?

What word class does it belong to: adjectives, verbs, nouns or adverbs?

How many syllables does the word have?

Can you include it in a sentence? Remember capital letters and punctuation.

09:00 - 09:30 - Reading

Rosa Parks

Read the text all about Rosa Parks! Answer the questions on the sheet. It might be helpful to underline key words in the questions to remind you of what to look for.

Work through the SPaG Activity 3 questions. There are questions on how to punctuate direct speech, suffixes (-ous), determiners and verb tense. Check the Answers to see how you performed. If you have log-in details for Lexia and Spellzone, spend 5 or 10 minutes working through them.

Equivalent fractions – Recap 2

Today you will be learning how to find equivalent fractions using bar models and number lines. Take a look at this video https://vimeo.com/504316253  or use the practice questions on Equivalent fractions 2 – Introduction powerpoint. Then have a go at the Maths Worksheet and use Maths Answers to check how you did (both in Learning Resources).

Finished? Would you like a challenge?

Have a go at working out the Day 3 Challenge (in Learning Resources).

11:30 - 12:30 - English

Time Connectives

Your main task next week will be writing a diary in the role of Alfie. Diaries need to be written in chronological order and time connectives are a great way of letting the reader know when an action is happening.

Take a look through the PowerPoint where you will recap on the first chapter and use time connectives to tell the reader when something is happening.

12:30 - 13:30 - Lunch Time

Afternoon - Wider Curriculum

D+T

Today, you are going to be planning a healthy meal for you to cook with an adult next week on Tuesday 16th February.

Task 1

From what you have learnt yesterday, place the different food and drink into the correct food groups. This sheet is in Learning Resources.

Task 2

Plan your meal for next week! In line with healthy eating and having a balanced diet, your meal next week must include at least 2 portions of fruit or vegetables. Your learning also involves preparing and cooking a savoury dish, using a heat source where appropriate. This is to be completed with adult supervision only. Ask an adult to help you with some inspiration when you are planning your meal. Think about what food you may already have in your house that could be used next week.

Click on the link below if you would like some ideas and recipes for a meal to cook with your adult. https://www.nhs.uk/change4life/recipes/dinner

You could cook a pasta dish, rice dish, fajitas, risotto, soup and much more.

Once you have decided on a savoury meal that has at least 2 portions of fruit and vegetables and requires a heat source (with adult supervision), fill out the ‘DT - Meal Plan’ sheet.

We look forward to seeing all of your plans of your delicious meals!
