Wednesday 13th May

Philosophical question:

Today's question:

What is so great about the world anyway?

Word of the day:

Challenges:

  • Find out what it means and write the definition in your own words!

  •  What is its word class?

  • How many syllables does it have (clap each syllable to help you)?

  •  Make a list of synonyms and antonyms

  •  Can you use it in an interesting sentence?

  • Are you able to use it, appropriately, when you are speaking or in any of your writing opportunities?

Morning - you are nearly half way through the week, keep up all the hard work :-)

Let's take a look to see what you have in store for today:

Reading

Look at the Reading Challenges tab and see what your challenge is for today!

Maths :

In this game you have to click two squares that when multiplied together make the number in grey. So for example if the grey number is 20, you have to click 4 and 5 (because 4 x 5 = 20)

Read/listen to Chapter 8

Whilst it is fresh after just planning it, today write your discussion text (we will look at the conclusion tomorrow)!

Below are some useful words and phrases which might support you with your writing. Remember to also use your planning!

For some this may feel quite daunting! I just want to remind you that you are ALL fantastic writers! Although your teacher isn’t with you, you can do this! Like we would say in school, no writer finishes their book/article based on the first book they wrote! Writers draft, edit and improve continually. Quite often my first drafts are just blurting my ideas down and then going back for a second time and refining what I have written. It is okay to re-draft. Do not see this as a failure!!

Enquiry

Today we are going to 'model' the digestive system. Modelling is a key skill used by scientists to help understand scientific phenomena. There are several steps in this lesson: modelling (using resources), watching information videos, completing a quiz and showing your understanding in one of a variety of ways:

►  information poster

►, comic strip

►  stop motion animation

►  movie/freeze frames

►  poem

Let's hope you can 'digest' all this learning and 'stomach' the challenges (check that idiom with someone if you're not sure what that means)!

First, watch the video demonstration below.
