08:45 - 09:00 - Word of the Day

Amiable

What does it mean?

Can you think of synonyms and antonyms?

What word class does it belong to: adjectives, verbs, nouns or adverbs?

How many syllables does the word have?

Can you include it in a sentence? Remember capital letters and punctuation.

09:00 - 09:30 - Reading

Electricity

Read all about an how electricity works and where we get electricity from. Answer the questions on the sheet. It might be helpful to underline key words in the questions to remind you of what to look for.

Unit and Non-unit Fractions

Today we are starting to learn about fractions. Take a look at this video and then have a go at the White Rose worksheet. https://vimeo.com/502315136

Finished? Would you like a challenge?

Have a go at working out the Day 3 Challenge. The document is in the learning resources.

11:30 - 12:30 - English

Read Lesson 3 – Sentence Starters.  Read the Skills powerpoint to recap on all the writing skills we have focused on this term and which we are aiming to include in our writing this week.

  • Fronted adverbials

  • Expanded noun phrases

  • Prepositional phrases

  • Subordinate conjunctions

Look at the Recount Examples. Look out for language you like, especially the variety of sentence starters you read. Think about all the skills and features we are looking for.

Write down any language you like. You can write these into the Skills Table (in Learning Resources) and add in your own ideas from yesterday’s Recount Planning Grid. The more ideas you have, the more exciting your sentence practice will be tomorrow. Alternatively, use subheadings for each skill into your book and record your ideas there.

12:30 - 13:30 - Lunch Time

Afternoon - Wider Curriculum

Art

As you start to design, use your mood board. This is a record of all the design elements you liked last week so we should see them in your final design. Choose a medium you are confident in using. If you find paint tricky … don’t use it for your final design!

Look at the Design Steps WAGOLL. These are the steps I followed when I designed my album cover. You might find it helpful.

  • I looked at my mood board
  • I identified the elements I liked
  • I worked them into my own original design

Year 4 WAGOLLs - for some extra inspiration, have a look at some of the original artwork from last year’s Year 4 classes – there might be ideas there that you really like.

Story Time

Listen to 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'. Today you will be listening to Chapter 25 and 26.
