What the video of ‘How to catch a star’. Brainstorm all the different ways you could try to catch a star. Pick your favourite way to catch a star and act it out.

Think of the steps you will need to catch the star. How many steps are there? Write down a time word and an imperative (bossy) verb for each step. Have a go at saying your instructions out loud. |
Draw a picture to match each step of your instructions. Practise saying your steps out loud. If you can, record you saying your steps. Extension: Can you add an adverb? |
Start writing your instructions making sure to include: time words imperative verbs adverbs |
Continue writing your instructions. When finished, check through your work carefully looking for: spelling capital letters punctuation sense |
