Have a go at working out the Day 2 Challenge. The document is in the learning resources.

11:30 - 12:30 - English

Read Lesson 2 – Planning. We are focusing on personal recount this week. Because Ella won a talent contest, she was given the chance to sing at one of the most famous theatres in the whole of the United States, the Apollo Theatre. How do you think Ella would describe and recount this experience to someone else? Watch the video of Ella singing with an orchestra:

We can’t possibly know exactly what happened on that night at the Apollo … but by putting ourselves in Ella’s shoes (getting into role), we can imagine. Use the Recount Planning Grid for your BIG NIGHT under the spotlight of the Apollo! The plan has been divided into four sections:

  • BEFORE - Behind the curtain, waiting to come onto the stage

  • DURING - On stage/singing

  • AFTER - Finishing your song/crowd reaction

  • Conclusion – atmosphere, what went well, what have you learnt

12:30 - 13:30 - Lunch Time

Afternoon - Wider Curriculum
