Welcome to your final week of Term 3 Remote Learning! 

 Online Safety Day 

We hope you took time to go outside and enjoy the snow yesterday. It was a biting, artic wind, but we are sure if you wrapped up warm, you could have created some wonderful snow sculptures, noticed the crunch underfoot on your walk or maybe throw some snowballs. Although it was grey skies, everywhere looks so magical- a white wonderland. 

Anyway, today is Online Safety Day. All this term we have have been examining the role of social media and staying safe online, so today, we would like you to consider this as you read and create an online safety cartoon and poster.

Remember: you need to think about online safety every time you turn on your device, especially as we are reliant on computers more and more with the lockdowns to communicate.

It's been lovely to have so many of you join us for the calls so far. Make sure you have a paper and pen ready for the session, to make notes of key learning points and to be able to join in with the tasks :-).

Look up what the word means, what word group it belongs to and place it accurately into a sentence.

Today, we’re continuing with our learning on dividing by looking at 4-digit numbers divided by 1-digit numbers.   

Work through the Tuesday 9th February – Maths Activity.  

It is really important to watch the White Rose videos on the link – this will help remind you of what to do with the formal written method.

Like you did with your potion, your technological invention is going to be sent in the post as a flat pack, so your advert needs easy to follow instructions. 

Use the attached sheet to help you write the instructions for your invention.

Remember to number the steps.

Like we would in class with our class book, spend some time quiet reading or listening to the class book. The teachers have uploaded videos of themselves reading different chapters on Tapestry, so be sure to check :-).

Today, review how successfully you have been this term with your wonderful learning. School has looked very different, it has been at home and for the most of you, on a laptop/tablet!  Create a poster for other children to follow: ‘Top Tips for Remote Learning’  

We will pull all of these together to share with others! 

Philosophical Question to finish the day! 

Yesterday's Q:  What is intelligence?

Miss Martin: I agree with Mrs. Hudson. Intelligence comes in all shapes and sizes, with people around the world all showing and sharing different areas of expertise. For example, Stephen Hawking showed remarkable intelligence in areas of science, whereas James Dyson shows incredible intelligence in engineering. On the other hand, JK Rowling has remarkable intelligence in creativity and story-writing! We all have our strengths :-)

Miss Chapman: 

Mrs. Hudson: I think there are many different types of intelligences.  As you get older, you realise people can be intelligent in many different ways. For example, some people may be be reading other people's emotions and understanding how people are feeling, whilst others may be able to complete a Maths problem in the blink of an eye. I think being able to use your brain in any way you can to help yourself and others is intelligent. 

Today's Question: How can you tell what someone is feeling? 

Spend some time during dinner or at some point in the evening, discussing this with the other people at home! We're sure there will be some interesting responses :-)
