Writing your diary

The day has finally come! Today, you are going to be writing your diary in the role of Alfie using the skills we have learnt over the last week; informal language, time conjunctions, speech and character descriptions. Use yesterday’s plan to guide you with your writing today.

The PowerPoint has top tips for you and includes a toolkit to writing a successful diary!

We look forward to reading your exciting, descriptive diaries!

12:30 - 13:30 - Lunch Time

Afternoon - Wider Curriculum

DT

Last Wednesday, you planned a savoury dish to cook for today. Remember, you must include at least 2 portions of fruit or vegetables and you should try using a heat source where appropriate. This is to be completed with adult supervision only. Think about what food you may already have in your house that could be used for your meal.

Here are a few things to remember:

  • Practice good hygiene - wash your hands before cooking. Wipe down any surfaces.

  • Prepare your meal as much as you can. Try not to buy food that has already been chopped, peeled or grated as this is a key skill that you could learn to do (with adult supervision).

  • Use the method in your plan from last week to cook your meal in order. This may depend on how long each ingredient takes to cook.

  • Take a look at the tips for cooking in Learning Resources which will help you chop, peel and grate your food safely.

  • Have fun and enjoy cooking!

Important information – tomorrow you will be evaluating your dish. Take a photo and think about the ingredients, texture, taste and appearance as this will help you when you evaluate your dish.

Definitions

Texture: the feel, appearance, or consistency of a surface or a substance

Taste: the sensation of flavour perceived in the mouth and throat on contact with a substance.

Story Time

Listen to 'The Wizard of Oz'. Today you will be listening to Chapter 12.
