Good morning Year 6!
It has been lovely chatting to you on the phone over the last couple of weeks. Remember, if you don't complete everything or choose to do things at a different time that is fine. You are all being incredible.
We have had lots of entries for the, ‘match the companion to the member of Year 6’! They look brilliant – truly tantalising! Oh and have a look at the year 6 gallery, there are some contributions for the photography unit and some truly magnificent pieces of work. Keep them coming in, we love seeing them.
On a separate note incase you didn't know, there is to be a minute's silence held at 11am today to pay tribute to NHS and key workers who have sadly lost their lives during this time.
8.50am Word of the Day precise
Challenges:
- Find out what it means and write the definition in your own words!
- What is its word class? (Is it a noun, verb, adjective?)
- How many syllables does it have (clap each syllable to help you)?
- Can you find any synonyms or antonyms?
- Can you use it in an interesting sentence?
Are you able to use it, appropriately, when you are speaking or in any of your writing opportunities?
Finally, try to find the root of the word – its origin – interesting Latin root!
9am PE
The ‘jumping’ challenge was popular yesterday. Again, try to see how far you can get. How much difference does pumping the arms make to a standing jump? Why?
Try to beat your best jump of yesterday.
If you don’t want to lose your fitness with Joe Wicks, carry on with this activity – remember, you should be hot and sweaty by the end – it is important that you keep pushing yourself to improve! We did love hearing about the PE on the trampoline, the mammoth walks and epic cycle rides too! You are all going to be so fit.
9.30am Independent reading
Settle down with your book and read quietly for thirty minutes. Some people have said that this is their favourite part of the day!
10am Comprehension
Barack Obama
How carefully did you read about Barack Obama? Did you check the meaning of all the words? Can you explain what ‘controversial’, ‘iconic’ and ‘revitalise’ mean?
Today, you are going to do ‘Fill in the Gap’ and ‘Matching’.
