Can you think of synonyms and antonyms? 

What word class does it belong to: adjectives, verbs, nouns or adverbs? 

How many syllables does the word have? 

Can you include it in a sentence? Remember capital letters and punctuation.

London’s Burning! 

Read the fictional story all about a fire in London! Answer the questions on the sheet. It might be helpful to underline key words in the questions to remind you of what to look for.  

CHALLENGE: When you are finished, have a look at the speech in this text. Remember the rules that are needed for speech and have a go at writing your own speech using these rules.

Word Families – Part 2                                                                                                                                                                        We are going to continue with our Word Families focus. You are going to identify root words and use definitions of known suffixes e.g. ful to help you work out the meaning of words within a word family e.g. plenty and plentiful. What do you think ‘formal’ and ‘informal’ mean? Work through the Formal and Informal powerpoint to help you. Think back to yesterday’s letters – which of them do you think were formal or informal? How do you know? Can you find examples of formal and informal letters at home? Ask an adult to help you. Read Jane’s Letter. Your challenge is to collect an example of each of these features into the Informal Feature Frame.
