Good Morning Year 5!
We hope your first day of Remote Learning went well! Remember to be reflective and think about what may work better for today...
Listed below is our suggested timetable for the day. You can adapt and edit the times you do these tasks to suit the timetable you have at home :-)
Word of the Day: Ecosystem!
Like you would in school, look up what this word means, what word group it belongs to, place it accurately into a sentence and work out what prefixes/ suffixes could be added (remember this last one doesn't always apply!).
09:00 - 09:30: Reading.
Collect the book you are reading at the moment or choose a new book to delve into!
Read for 15 minutes OR read to the end of the next chapter/ section of the book and answer the questions provided in the grid below:
09:30 - 10:30: Maths.
Firstly, create your own set of 'Matching Cards' for the x7 table. Look at '7 Times Table Matching Cards' below.
You should have a set of 'number sentences' and a set of 'answers'. Cut them out and turn them all over so they are facing down. Mix them up. Turn over 1 'number sentence' card and 1 'answer' card at a time. If they match, (e.g. you turn over '1 x 7' and '7') you put those cards to one side. If they do not match, you turn them over and keep going until you match all the sets. If you're tackling this starter 'solo-style', then time yourself and see how long it takes! Or, challenge someone else at home and take it in turns to try and find matching sets! Who will get the most?!
Then, move onto the sheet Maths Task which is attached below.
10:30 - 10:45: Break.
Have a snack and try to get some fresh air if possible. Alternatively, follow the link below to The Body Coach TV, where Joe Wicks is recording great home workouts for children!

10:45 - 11:15: Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar.
Attached below, is your new list of spellings to work on for this week! 'Week 24 - Mixture of Yr3 and 4, Yr 5 and 6'
As you normally would, use this time to practise your new spellings. If you want to try and learn them in a new way, check out the 'Visual Spelling Strategies' document below.
11:15 - 12:15: English.
Please refer to your 'Paper Pack' and look at the Comprehension/Writing Text for Week 1, titled 'The Pied Piper of Hamelin'.
Please complete the questions for 'Text Level' and 'Sentence Level' written into your Enquiry books.
12:15 - 1:15: Lunch.
Be sure to have something to eat and try to get some fresh air if possible.

1:15 - 1:30: Quiet Reading.
Like we do in class with our Class Book, take a moment to do some quiet reading to yourself.
1:30 - 3:00: PE-Focused Activity OR Forest School Activity.
PE-Focused Activity:
1) Take a moment to look at the video of the paired acrobatic-gymnasts below. In your Enquiry books, answer the following questions:
2) Find a place in your home which has some clear space. Collect some cushions and a blanket/ towel or mat. Like we did in PE, watch the handstand video below up until 6:47, practising the build-up moves towards a handstand. Or, if you feel completely confident and can SAFELY do so, see if you can perform a full handstand (this makes sense to be done outside or where there's more room to avoid knocking anything!). Watch the rest of the video to help!
Forest School Activity:
Look at your Paper Pack and refer to the section with the various Forest School activities.
Choose one to spend some time on this afternoon, such as spotting birds out the window or in the garden.
We hope you have another lovely day and we will update with Wednesday's learning tomorrow! :-)
