Welcome to week 1 of Term 4 Remote Learning!
We hope your first day of Term 4 went smoothly and that you feel like you're getting back into your learning routine! It was SO lovely to see you all on Zoom again!
How did you find your work on Fractions? What facts did you find out about the locality, physical and human geography of Egypt today and Ancient Egypt?
Let's continue with the awesome Ancient Egypt-themed jokes...
What music do mummies listen to?
Wrap! (ahahaha hilarious...)
Keep uploading your work on Tapestry. We love to see it!!
09:00 - 09:45: Class Daily Zoom Session!
It's been lovely to have so many of you join us for the calls so far. Make sure you have a paper and pen ready for the session, to make notes of key learning points and to be able to join in with the tasks :-).
Word of the Day: Delta
Look up what the word means, what word group it belongs to and place it accurately into a sentence.
09:45 - 10:30 Mathematics.
Step 2: Equivalent Fractions (1)
This week we will be starting our new mathematical topic of Fractions.
Work through the sheet Tuesday 23rd February – Maths Task.
It is really important to watch the White Rose video on the link – this will help with your new learning!
10:30 - 10:45 BREAK!
Get outside and enjoy the soon to be Spring air if it is appropriate and safe to do so.
Tennis: Practice your racket skills. You need a ball and a racket (this doesn’t have to be a tennis racket, it could be a table tennis bat or even a large spoon. You could also use a rolled-up ball of scrap paper as a ball). How many times can you hit the ball? Keep a record. What is your best score?
10:45 - 11:00 SPaG
New Spellings!
Practise your new spellings for the week. Can you learn them in a new way?
Look at your new spellings sheet!
Remember, try some Lexia/Spellzone too!

Egyptian Cinderella:
Revisit the Egyptian Cinderella, read by the author Shirley Climo...

12:15 - 12:30 Class/Own Book.
Like we would in class with our class book, spend some time quiet reading or listening to the class book, The Time Travelling Cat. The teachers have uploaded videos of themselves reading different chapters on Tapestry, so be sure to check :-).
12:30 - 1:30 LUNCH!
1:30 - 2:00 Reading.
Go over and familiarise yourself again with the poem, Mummy! from yesterday.
Work through one of the levels from the Poetry Detective Pack - exploring and unpicking how you feel about the poem.

The Egyptians created some amazing artefacts. It's time to become an Egyptologist!
Watch this video to see how archeologists date artefacts. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/zb4kjxs
Look at the artefacts in the resource sheet. What do you think these artefacts tells us about Egyptian life?
For each artefact, write:
Please feel free to research artefacts further and upload this work onto Tapestry!
Philosophical Question to finish the day!
Yesterday's Q: Would you rather live in space or underwater? Why?
Miss Martin: I think it would have to be underwater. I LOVE swimming and that would essentially be my main form of activity. I also imagine myself making friends with dolphins and penguins... (sounds silly but we are talking about living underwater here so I think I'm allowed to daydream!). I would find space too lonely as there's no other creatures, people or animals out there!
Miss Chapman: Space! Imagine being able to float around with zero gravity. Exploring different alien species and their cultures - I know Miss Martin has said that it might get lonely but after watching Star Trek and Doctor Who I am pretty certain there must be life somewhere out there... who is with me?!
Mrs Hudson: My initial thought was underwater, as I too love swimming and the sea. However, I did go snorkelling once and found it surprisingly quite tricky. I do think the colours would be wonderful, although I may shy away from sharks. Space I think would be filled with too much.... space, so I definitely think underwater would be better.
Today's Q: Would you rather eat fruit or vegetables for the rest of your life?
Have a great evening and join us tomorrow for some more exciting learning :)
