D+T
Today, we are going to focus on healthy food choices and the effect it has on our bodies.
Task 1
Choose 12 food items at random from your fridge or larder (or get someone else to choose them for you). Now place them into groups – how you group them is up to you. Write, draw or take a picture of your groups and write an explanation of how you grouped them.
Task 2
Carefully read through the ‘DT - Healthy Eating PowerPoint'. Now rearrange your food items into the correct categories as shown on the Eatwell Guide – slide 7 (CARBOHYDRATE, FRUIT AND VEGETABLES, PROTEINS, DAIRY and OILS/SPREADS). Again, take a picture of your real-life ‘Eat Well Plate’ if you can, for your Home Learning Book or draw it.
Task 3
Read the Information Text about healthy eating carefully and choose the level of questions you would like to answer. Remember to write in full sentences.
Mild - copy and complete the sentences into your book, using the word bank provided with each sentence to help you.
Spicy - answer the questions in full sentences, using the word banks to help you.
Hot - answer the questions in full sentences. You MUST include ALL the words in each word bank in your answer. There is an extension challenge to complete at the end.
Story Time
Listen to 'The Wizard of Oz'. Today you will be listening to Chapter 3 and 4.
