English

The Hallowed Shallows

For Oliver not to know about it must mean they have pretty poor advertising! Are you up for the challenge?

So, what makes a good advert/poster? Look at the tutorial video below!

To start off you need to write down all of the information that needs to go on to your poster and exactly how you want it worded. Once you have that information you can think about the layout/look!

You need:

  • Name of the event

  • Tickets and prices (be reasonable! Ask around to see what people might pay!)

  • What the event is

  • A promotion for when at the Hallowed Shallows

  • Date, Time, Place

  • Headlining Islands

Additional items:

  • Quotes (made up!)

  • Any competitions they may be part of

  • Logos of any companies sponsoring the competition

In your books, sketch out at least 3 or 4 different ideas for how you could present your poster ready for tomorrow’s lesson!

Enquiry

You are going to create an information poster about the marine wonders. You have a choice:

smiley Create a world map poster showing all seven marine wonders

smiley Create an information poster about one marine wonder.

You can design it on one large piece of paper, on separate pieces that could be joined together ... you could even create it on the back of a large section of wallpaper. It is your choice! There is a blank world map to help - you can label it, use a key on it or maybe draw it onto a larger piece of paper.

In the Resources, there is a word bank dedicated to each marine wonder. Please refer to these for spelling support and aim to use as much of the key vocabulary as you can in your poster.

enlightenedChallenge: find your own facts about some or all of the wonders using a range of sources e.g. books or internet.

Here are some features you should aim to include:
