Listen to Mr. Carradine's playlist whilst you colour in a Union Jack Flag for your window or to wave.

 10:30 - 10:45: Break. 

Have a giggle, try the Lindy Hop dance steps. Can you teach your family? 

10:45 - 11:15: Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar. 

Spend 15mins on Lexia or Spellzone if you have an account - how great if we could hand out more certificates?!

Look at the Flipchart PDF: Grammar - Standard English and Double Negatives. Look through the slides 'Thursday 7th May'. Read the given text in the Brain Warm-Up and work through the provided text. 

Get somebody at home to help you with dictation. 

11:15 - 12:15: VE Day Preparation Activities! English Style...

• After this interesting video, imagine you were like Alan, celebrating VE Day! Write a diary entry about your day celebrating VE Day, seeing Winston Churchill and the Royal Family on the balcony at Buckingham Palace. 
• Describe the crowds and the party atmosphere! 
• Finally, reflect on what war meant for you and your family. 

12:15 - 1:15: Lunch. 

Be sure to have something to eat and try to get some fresh air! 

1:15 - 1:30: Quiet Reading. 

Listen to any chapters in the Wilderness War section of the website that you may have missed.

1:30 - 3:00: LET'S CELEBRATE! 

Ready for tomorrow: 

• Make a Union Jack flag, paper-chains or bunting!
• If you can bake some cakes, make some classic treats! Or, create some sandwiches! 
• Host a VE Day celebration party with your friends (perhaps organise a FaceTime or Zoom!). 
• Get your outfit ready - wear red, white or blue OR find out what people would have worn in 1944! 
• Create 5 questions about Great Britain, World War 2 or the 1940s. There could be geography, literacy, sport or music influenced Qs! Then do a quiz! Who won?!
• Learn the Lindy Hop! This simple step tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yfd5du3ULas will help you!
• Practice the sing-a-longs with Mr. Carradine. These will cheer everyone up! Remember, we are all meant to sing 'We'll Meet Again' tomorrow at 9pm!

Well done everyone! We are continuing with the philosophical questions! They are just some funny little thoughts to get your brains working and everyone interacting (save your points for lunchtime or dinnertime or FaceTime - get your family involved!).

Is everything connected?

Mrs. Hudson: I think the Coronavirus has shown how we are all connected globally. Not only do we rely on our families, but other countries around the world for products to help us and people to work together to protect us.  

Miss. Martin: Our world is scientifically spectacular, in that everyone and everything has it's rightful place.. and without that, something else is impacted or wouldn't work in the same way. There's also that theory that everybody is connected in some way or another, through 6 or 7 different connections/experiences! You choose someone (like the Queen, maybe) and work out the chain of links. I find this quite hard but it's interesting to try with your family! 

Have a great VE Day Bank Holiday, Year 5! We look forward to seeing any ideas or work that you produced from today!
