Good morning Year 4! smiley

Word of the Day

Spectacle

What does it mean?

Can you think of synonyms and antonyms?

What word class does it belong to: adjectives, verbs, nouns or adverbs?

How many syllables does the word have?

Can you include it in a sentence? Remember capital letters and punctuation.

Reading

Sound Waves

Read the text all about the sound waves! It may sound familiar as you learnt about it yesterday. Answer the questions in the document. It might be helpful to underline key words in the questions to remind you of what to look for.

Maths

9 Times Table and Division Facts

Today is all about knowing your 9 times table and division facts. Remember, division is the INVERSE of multiplication.

To warm up, write the 9 times table down in a random order. Next, write the division fact next to that multiplication. Remember, you are dividing by 9.

For example, 5 x 9 = 45        45 ÷ 9 = 5

                     9 x 6 = ?            ?  ÷ 9 = 6

Have a go at the White Rose worksheet.

GPS

Work through the SPaG Activity 3 questions. There are some tips to help you. Be sure to read them. If you have log-in details for Lexia and Spellzone, spend 5 or 10 minutes working through them.

Writing

What is Ella doing in this picture? What is the object next to her? It is called a GRAMOPHONE and was a popular way to listen to music when Ella was a child. But why is she not listening to Alexa or an iPod? Your challenge is to sort all the different ways we have listened to music in chronological order. To help you, watch this short video on the history of listening to music. You might want to watch it twice.

Afterwards, cut out and order each of the listening devices on the Music Listening Picture Prompts. DON'T glue them until you're happy you've got them in the right order. You will find the answers in Learning Resources. Then read your Lesson Plan.

Wider Curriculum

PSHE (Personal, social, emotional, economic)

This week we are exploring how people’s behaviour affects themselves and others, including online. Write down some of your ideas for these 5 questions.

  1. What positive behaviours can you think of?
  2. What negative behaviours can you think of?
  3. Why is it important to show positive behaviours?
  4. How can you show positive behaviours at home?
  5. How can you show positive behaviours at school?

In the Learning Resources you will find a sheet titled ‘What Happens When...’ Here you can reflect on the consequences of positive and negative behaviours. If you cannot print this sheet then you can draw a line down the middle of a piece of paper and create your own table. 😊 Please write at least 5 positive behaviours with their consequences and 5 negative behaviours with their consequences. They can be behaviours at home or at school.
