Thursday 7th Jan

Hello, Year 2!

I hope you had fun experimenting with the many different shades you can make with just a single pencil yesterday. It was fantastic to see your efforts on Tapestry.
It's a great skill to keep practising yes

We look forward to seeing you on zoom later!

Here is your suggested timetable for the day

Maths

  • Watch the video ‘Using the x symbol’ on today’s page.
  • Complete the questions showing that you understand that the ‘x’ symbol means the same ‘groups of’.
  • Write the multiplication number sentence to match the pictures of groups.
  • Extension: Create your own number sentence using the ‘x’ symbol and draw the pictures to match.
  • Have a go at some of the problem solving and reasoning questions. Remember to explain your answer to show you really understand the question. This can be done verbally with someone in your house.

Phonics/SPaG

  • Head to Tapestry to find your group’s assigned phonics/SPaG activity.

Break

  • Grab a healthy snack and get outside for some fresh air for a run around, a kick around or a bit of fresh air.

English

  • Time to finish writing your biography on Vincent van Gogh. Use your facts from Monday (or the planning sheet provided) to write facts under the subheadings:
  • Famous Paintings
  • Fun Facts
  • His Legacy

Remember: you don't have to write down all the facts! Pick the ones you find the most interesting.

  • Use the model biography to help you structure your biography as well as the features checklist.

Lunch

  • Enjoy some lunch and get outside for fresh air.

Reading

  • Reread or listen to Miss Williams read ‘The Most Magnificent Thing’ focusing on how the characters might be feeling.
  • Look at the illustrations and write a list of emotions to match the pictures. Use the feelings wheel to help.
  • Can you explain why they might be feeling like that?

PSHE

  • Have a discussion about what things we need and things we want in our life.
  • Sort the things into the table and see if your family agree.

Enquiry

  • Watch the video of Mrs Atkins describing how to draw texture using pencil on Tapestry.
  • Have a go at drawing the different textures on the sheet. Use your knowledge of line and shading from yesterday.
  • Go find some interesting textures and have a go at recreating them using just pencil.
