Hello Year 5 or 'Ciao!' as they say in Italy
Who were the special people you thought about yesterday? We hope you have managed to keep in contact with these people during lockdown. Today, we are continuing with our Ancient Egyptian topic. In fact, today you are going to be proper Egyptologists, examining artifacts to find out more about this amazing civilisation. This should be the perfect launch pad for our Ancient Egyptian day tomorrow. We can't wait!
As always, we will follow the normal routine that we would cover in school!
Word of the Day: Hieroglyphics
Look up what the word means, what word group it belongs to, place it accurately into a sentence and work out what prefixes/ suffixes could be added (remember this last one doesn't always count!).
09:00 - 09:30: Reading.
Read your book for 15mins or more.
Continue preparing your piece of performance poetry! When you have a moment, get somebody at home to watch and perform the poem to them!
Consider the following questions when practising:

10:45 - 11:15: SPaG.
Look at the Flipchart PDF Grammar - More Relative Clauses. Look through the slides for 'Thursday 4th June'. Look at the given sentences in the Brain Warm-Up and add in an appropriate relative clause. Then look at the reasoning questions.

Look at the artifacts given in the resource sheet. What do you think these artifacts tell us about Egyptian life?
For each artifact write:
Please feel free to research any of the artifacts further! Why not drop in to the British Museum on a virtual tour to see some Egyptian sculptures?
2:45 - 3:00: Philosophical Question.
Today's Question: Why do we dream?
We look forward to hearing about your responses!
Yesterday's Q: What is a person?
Spend some time during dinner or at some point in the evening, discussing this with the other people at home! We're sure there will be some interesting responses.
Mrs. Hudson: This is an interesting question. I would say a person has skin, internal organs, bones, a brain and some hair, but not fur or scales. A person can feel, think and speak. I suppose we need to consider what isn't a person too, for example an animal.
Miss Martin: I suppose it's that key element of how us humans differ from the rest of the Animal Kingdom... I think it's to do with our brain and how we feel. We have thoughts and speak those thought to others. We have also created amazing technology and advanced this into some awesome inventions! Any person, provided they have those things, could do that... an animal, not so much!
We look forward to hearing your responses! Log in on Friday for OUR EGYPTIAN DAY!
