Thursday 2nd July

Happy Thursday, Year 2 laugh

Don't forget to pick up your needle and thread from the school gates if you need it for today's sewing lesson.

Philosophical discussion: Is it easier to learn at school or at home? Why or why not?

Here is today's suggested timetable:

Suggested times

Timetable

9 – 9:30

Complete a couple of GoNoodles

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2YBT7HYqCbbvzu3kKZ3wnw

9:30 – 10:30

Maths

  •  We’re looking at time today and thinking about telling the time to every 15 minutes. Look at the clock with the labels to remind yourselves of how to do it.
  • You have got lots of clock faces showing different times, can you write underneath each clock what time it is showing. Use the vocab cards at the bottom to help your spelling.
  • Complete the true or false questions about the times. Can you then draw the time stated underneath the blank clocks?
  • Play the time game on the last page with someone at home.

10:30 – 10:45

Break

Get outside in the garden for a kick around, run around or a bit of fresh air.

10:45 – 11:10

SPaG - Special focus 6 (p43)

  • I know we’ve skipped a unit but don’t worry, it will make sense next week!
  • We’re looking at contractions and using apostrophes. We’re focussing on I’ve and we’d. Find the contractions and then write the original words.
  • Choose two of the contractions and write them into a sentence.

11:10 – 12:00

Writing

  • Look at the features of an acrostic poem and remind yourself of what alliteration is and what similes are.
  • Note down any words you can think of about sea monsters. Use the questions to help you.
  • Sort your words into a table with words starting with A, E, M, N, , O, R, S, T. Use a dictionary to help you with more words.

12:00 – 1:00

Lunch

Go outside for a bit of fresh air; run around in the sunshine!

1:00 – 1:30

Reading

  • Read or listen to Chapter 23 ‘They get into trouble’.
  • Discuss what kind of toy would you pretend to be in the Land of Toys.

1:30 – 2:30

Enquiry

  • We are going to be making the sails this week. To help us do that, we’re going to learn a special kind of stitch today called a running stitch.
  • Watch the video to help you understand how we’re going to do it.
  • Using a piece of material can you practice doing your running stitch – it would be good to have an adult supervising you when you do this.  If you have an old tshirt, tea towl or anything like that would be perfect.

3:00

End of the day

Enjoy spending some down time with your family.
