Welcome to Week 4 of Remote learning! 

We hope you agree that Mother Theresa was an amazing human being, doing a great deal to help the people of Calcutta in India. We also hope that you had a chance to discuss illegal drugs with your family. Although this is a tricky subject, we would much prefer you to be knowledgeable about the risks these substances can create to our bodies, families and friends.

It's been lovely to have so many of you join us for the calls so far. Make sure you have a paper and pen ready for the session, to make notes of key learning points and to be able to join in with the tasks :-).

Look up what the word means, what word group it belongs to and place it accurately into a sentence.

Step 6: Multiply 3-digits by 2-digits 

Today, we’re continuing with our learning on multiplying, by looking at 3-digit numbers multiplied by 1-digit numbers.   

Work through the Thursday 28th January – Maths Activity.

Look through the slides for Thursday 28th January – look at the given sentences in the Brain Warm-Up.

Work through sheet ‘Direct and Indirect Speech’.  

Get somebody in the family to help you with some dictation. Have them read the sentences to you.   

Use the flipchart slides to check your work.

Remember, try some Lexia/Spellzone too!

Writing the Headline, by-line and the 5Ws!

Use the sheet attached to create a name for your newspaper, a catchy headline, a by-line and a brief introduction.

12:15 - 12:30   Class/Own Book.  

Like we would in class with our class book, spend some time quiet reading or listening to the class book. The teachers have uploaded videos of themselves reading different chapters on Tapestry, so be sure to check :-).  

12:30 - 1:30   LUNCH! 

1:30 - 2:00   Reading Activity. 

We are going to be looking at ground breaking scientists, so read the Edward Jenner and unwanted Germs comprehension and answer the questions. .

Gym clothes on – get the whole family involved!   

Have a look through the different challenges today and form them into a circuit session. Try and push yourself – challenge your body.   

You can often do more than you think, you just need the right frame of mind!   

Upload a video (it could be a time lapse) of you completing one or more challenges onto tapestry!

Philosophical Question to finish the day! 

Yesterday's Q:  How does Gravity work?     

Miss Martin: Gravity is the force that attracts two objects together... We know from our Space topic in Term 2, that the larger an object is (and we're talking in planet sizes here), the stronger its gravitational pull. With Earth's sheer size, it's why we do not float off into space and why Earth doesn't float away from the Sun and the Solar System.... Mind-boggling, but frankly awesome, stuff! 

Miss Chapman:  Spot on from Miss Martin! Whenever I hear the word gravity it always reminds me of Defying Gravity from Wicked. Challenge: Can you defy gravity? Hmm... 

Mrs. Hudson:  Wow! well this is certainly helping us revise our science from term 2. I think Miss. Chapman and Miss Martin have answered this brilliantly. I did enjoy listening to Sir Tim Peake this week on Desert Island Discs, saying how when he returned to Earth, everything seemed so heavy, due to gravity, such as lifting an i-pad. I had never thought of that before. 

Today's Question:  Where were people before they were born? 

Spend some time during dinner or at some point in the evening, discussing this with the other people at home! We're sure there will be some interesting responses :-)
