What does it mean?

Can you think of synonyms and antonyms?

What word class does it belong to: adjectives, verbs, nouns or adverbs?

How many syllables does the word have?

Can you include it in a sentence? Remember capital letters and punctuation.

Finished? Would you like a challenge?

Have a go at working out the Day 4 Challenge. The document is in the learning resources.

11:30 - 12:30 - English

You are going to write some sentences for each section of your letter, using yesterday’s plan to help you.

  • Introduction

  • Paragraph 1 – why you ran away

  • Paragraph 2 – how you are doing and where you’re living

  • Paragraph3 -  your exciting news – you won a talent contest

  • Close

Use the Sentence Stems (in Learning Resources) to help you. Remember, you will be writing an informal letter to a friend, so when you read your sentences back, they should sound chatty and friendly – imagine how you might talk to a friend.

Afternoon - Wider Curriculum

RE

In Christianity, Christians believe that Jesus’ words and actions show them how to live. These are called the Beatitudes – Matthew (5:3-15).

Watch this hyper link Sermon on the Mount. A sermon is a bit like a lesson. Jesus used this sermon to teach and guide his followers.

Read the Beatitudes. They have been re-written in a simple, clear way to help us understand what they mean.

  1. Talk to someone else about what each Beatitude might mean. Freeze frame or draw an image to show how a Christian child might carry out that action in their daily lives.

  1. Re-read the Ten Commandments from last week. Compare them to the Beatitudes. Answer these questions in your book, using full sentences:

  • How are the Ten Commandments and Beatitudes similar and different?

  • Why do you think they mention God so much in both sets of rules?

  • Which of the Beatitudes do you think is most important? Why?

Story Time
