Welcome to week 1 of Term 4 Remote Learning! 

We hope the beginning of your week has been good so far and that you feel like you're getting back into your learning routine! What did you think of yesterday's learning? 

How did you find stepping into the role of Rhodopis and writing back to her family about her experiences? Remember to keep challenging yourself to include all the great grammar techniques that you know, to make our writing engaging and interesting.

09:00 - 09:45: Class Daily Zoom Session!     

It's been lovely to have so many of you join us for the calls so far. Make sure you have a paper and pen ready for the session, to make notes of key learning points and to be able to join in with the tasks :-).

Word of the Day:  Hieroglyphics 

Look up what the word means, what word group it belongs to and place it accurately into a sentence.

09:45 - 10:30   Mathematics. 

Step 3: Equivalent Fractions (2) CONTINUED 

This week we will be starting our new mathematical topic of Fractions.  

Work through the sheet Thursday 25th February – Maths Task.    

It is really important to watch the White Rose video on the link – this will help with your new learning! 

10:30 - 10:45   BREAK! 

Get outside and enjoy the soon to be Spring air if it is appropriate and safe to do so.  

Tennis: Practice your racket skills. You need a ball and a racket (this doesn’t have to be a tennis racket, it could be a table tennis bat or even a large spoon. You could also use a rolled-up ball of scrap paper as a ball). How many times can you hit the ball? Keep a record. What is your best score?

Flipchart PDF - Sentence Adverbs!  

Look through the slides for Thursday 25th February. Look at the given sentences in the Brain Warm-Up about adverbs used in sentences. Then, look at the reasoning Qs. Work through the sheet Sentence Adverbs. 

Get someobody at home to help you with some dictation. Have them read the sentences to you. 

Remember, try some Lexia/Spellzone too! 

11:15 - 12:15   English/Writing. 

Imagine you are Pharaoh Amasis: 

Create 3 diary entries as if you were him. 

1. The first entry could be as you wait for the feast to begin, showing how bored you feel about the whole event and what you would rather be doing. 
2. The second entry needs to describe: how you feel about the dainty slipper that lands in your lap and your search for the owner and what you find (perhaps talk about the other girls that try on the shoe).
3. The third entry needs to describe how you are feeling when you find Rhodopis and what happens. 

Remember what to include for a diary entry: 

• 1st person (I, me, we...)
• Lots of feelings and emotions. 
• Adverbial phrases (As I waited for the food to be served... Reluctantly, I thanked the guests...) 
• Relative Clauses (who... what... which... whose... that...). 
• Subordinate clauses (Although... If... Even though...).

12:15 - 12:30   Class/Own Book.  

Like we would in class with our class book, spend some time quiet reading or listening to the class book, The Time Travelling Cat. The teachers have uploaded videos of themselves reading different chapters on Tapestry, so be sure to check :-).  

12:30 - 1:30   LUNCH! 

1:30 - 2:00   Reading. 

Read the Egyptian Diary and answer the questions in full sentences. 

2 - 2:45pm  PE Focus: 

Our sport focus for this term is Tennis! Head over to Tapestry and check out the PE challenge video, which has been uploaded! Share with your class teacher what you get up to when you upload your learning onto Tapestry. You could share a video or picture! 

2:45 - 3:20pm   French Focus:

This term, our French unit is called:      Je suis le musician! 

Today, we are looking at the different musical genres and the French translation. Attached is a worksheet which has an image, then the English and French vocabulary. 

Beneath, there are questions and responses. Practice saying both the question and the response. You could ask someone else at home to practice with you (or virtually with a friend!). 

Philosophical Question to finish the day! 

Yesterday's Q:  Does a story always need to start at the beginning? Why or why not?   

Miss Martin: I don't think a story always needs to start at the beginning but I think you may need to refer to the beginning... Otherwise, you won't know what the starting point is and might not have any context for the rest of the story. 

Miss Chapman: How can you have a story with no beginning? Somewhere along the line there has to be a beginning whether it is in a different book... 

Mrs Hudson:  No it doesn't. Lots of interesting books i have read have started at the end and then gone back to hte beginning through the story. 

Today's Q:  Would you rather be water or soil? Why?
