Hello Year 5 or 'Goddag!' as they say in Denmark!
Who were the special people you thought about yesterday? Did you write a card or letter to send to them? Although it's not as quick as email or other messaging apps, there's something really warming and wonderful when you receive a letter from somebody you care about (so we're sure that if you did send one, the recipient will love it!).
As always, we will follow the normal routine that we would cover in school!
Word of the Day: Mummify
Look up what the word means, what word group it belongs to, place it accurately into a sentence and work out what prefixes/ suffixes could be added (remember this last one doesn't always count!).
09:00 - 09:30: Reading.
Read your book for 15mins or more.
Look at 'If' by Rudyard Kipling again. Could you create your own version of 'If'?
Practice and perform it! If someone videos it, we would love to see!
09:30 - 10:30: Mathematics.
Okay, so we're continuing our booster sessions on Fractions!
Please remember:The videos provided show the new learning for the lesson so do watch them, and look through the posters too as they are there to help!
Today, we're Multiplying Mixed Numbers by Integers (which are whole numbers).
ork through Thursday 12th June - Maths Task Sheet. Start with the White Rose Sheet and then, depending on how you get on, try one of the other tasks.
10:30 - 10:45: Break/ Snack/ Exercise.
Have a snack and try to get some fresh air if possible.
Cricket: How accurately can you throw a ball? Using a ball (or rolled up scrap paper), make 3 targets. These could be with tubs, bowls or chalk circles. You could give each target points. So, the further away it is, the more points!
10:45 - 11:15: SPaG.
Look at the Flipchart PDF Grammar - Standard English: Adverbs. Look through the slides for 'Thursday 11th June'. Start by working through the different questions on Standard English - is it 'have' or 'of'? 'was' or 'were'?
Remember to have a go at Lexia/ Spellzone!
11:15 - 12:15: English/Writing. Creating an information page!
Like yesterday, work on a page for your information book.
Remember the key features:
12:15 - 1:15: Lunch/Exercise.
Try to get some fresh air if it is safe and appropriate to do so.
1:15- 1.30: Quiet Reading Time:
Listen to Chapter 11 of the Time Travelling Cat. A mysterious tale that will take you back to Ancient Egypt. Click on our remote audio book page. We will be using this book later on in the term.
1:30 - 2:45: Enquiry: History Focus!
Choose one of the following areas to research on Egyptian daily life:
We will be covering the other areas later in the term.
If you have any books on Ancient Egypt then use these. If not, go through the websites below:
You can also check out the websites in our Museum page! :-)
2:45 - 3:00: Philosophical Question.
Today's Question: Why is a positive (a good thing), a minus (a bad thing) and an interesting point about school?
We look forward to hearing about your responses!
Yesterday's Q: What's the point of football?
Spend some time during dinner or at some point in the evening, discussing this with the other people at home! We're sure there will be some interesting responses.
Mrs. Hudson: Exactly, what is the point of football- men or women just running about after a ball getting paid huge sums of money? I know, I know, so many of you enjoy it. You love the exercise, training and playing games, meeting with friends outside of school and supporting the best team in the country...Newcastle United. Tee! Hee!
Miss Martin: Although I am not a huge fan of the sport, I can see why so many people all over the world really enjoy it! I think to start with, like lots of sports, it started as something enjoyable you would play with peers, and then in time it turned into this huge phenomenon. It certainly unites people and brings them together!
We look forward to hearing your responses! Tomorrow is an inset day so log in on Monday for more wonderful learning! Have a great weekend!
