Welcome back Year 5! 

Let's get started on Term 3! We're sad that we aren't back in our classrooms like normal, but we're excited to see what great learning you will be continuing at home. Each day we will be uploading new learning tasks for you to complete :-).

For today, our timetable follows the same as it would in class. Tomorrow, it will change as we will have our daily live Zoom sessions as classes! 

Word of the Day:  Broth 

Look up what the word means, what word group it belongs to and place it accurately into a sentence.

09:00 - 09:30   Reading Activity. 

William Shakespeare!

Read through the William Shakespeare Comprehension carefully, underlining any keywords and answer the given questions in full sentences.  

09:30 - 10:30   Mathematics. 

Step 1: Measuring Perimeter! You will need a ruler for today's learning! 

This week, we will be starting a new topic in our learning... Measurement: Perimeter and Area! Work through the worksheet Monday 4th January - Maths Task.

10:30 - 10:45   BREAK! 

Get outside and enjoy the Winter air! Notice the birds, leaves, seed heads, twigs and vivid green moss! 

10:45 - 11:15   SPaG. 

Work through the SPaG Revision Mat and the different questions - be sure to check the clues to help you! Don't forget some time on Lexia/Spellzone if you have an account! 

11:15 - 12:30   English/Writing. 

What do you know about William Shakespeare?

Brainstorm anything that you know already.

• Watch the short video about his life and make notes. 

Use the reading comprehension from this morning and your notes, to make a poster of information on William Shakespeare. Remember to have:

• A catchy title. 
• Subheadings. 
• Think about the layout... 
• Paragraphs with detailed information. 
• Illustrations with captions.
• A 'Did You Know?' 

12:30 - 1:30   LUNCH! 

1:30 - 1:45   Quiet Reading. 

Like we would in class with our class book, spend some time quiet reading. 

1:45 - 3:20   Science Focus - Hook! 

 Has the world benefitted from scientific and technological advances? 

Take a look at the Science Hook Worksheet! 

Brainstorm any ideas you can think of that answer this question. 

Check out the exciting video experiments! Would you be able to recreate anything at home? (Remember to ask an adult first!)

 What was a positive, a minus and an interesting fact about 2020? 

Spend some time during dinner or at some point in the evening, discussing this with the other people at home! We're sure there will be some interesting responses :-)
