Monday 29th June

Good Morning :)

Philosophical question:

If you were an animal, which animal would you want to be and why?

Word of the day: Bioluminescence

Challenges:

  • Find out what it means and write the definition in your own words!

  •  What is its word class?

  • How many syllables does it have (clap each syllable to help you)?

  •  Make a list of synonyms and antonyms

  •  Can you use it in an interesting sentence?

  • Are you able to use it, appropriately, when you are speaking or in any of your writing opportunities?

Reading: This week we would like you to spend some time catching up on activities from the reading challenges area. If you are completely up to date with the weekly tasks then please spend some time enjoying a book from home.

Maths : We will be spending this week doing data handling. There will be some extra challenges below in the documents. Please do not think they are all for today. The extra challenges are for any time this week when you need some additional Maths learning. Feel free to pop back to Monday's documents when you need one of them. They will be here all week!

The first lesson is called 'Interpret charts' and can be found here. https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-4/

It is in Summer Term, week 10.

SPaG

Check out the SPaG Mat below. It is recapping what we have learnt so far in Year 4!

English

Welcome to a new week! Make sure you are up to date on all the book so far!

Today you have a lesson video on the Virtual Library where I focus on a set scene from the book! Listen carefully. If you can it would be useful to have the video open, so you can refer to it, as you are completing your work!

After you have listened, draw what you hear. Use the description to tell you, guide you with what you are drawing. I would encourage you to listen to the video more than once.

The drawing should take no more than 20 minutes.

Once you have completed your drawing(s) explain what you have drawn and why! To do this you need to use key words and phrases from the text.

In your ‘explanation’ use as many of the following conjunctions:

after

before

So that

whereas

whether

even though

because

while

once

If

although

Since

Enquiry

First, a challenge. Can you match each animal with its correct animal class. Your learning from last week will help you.

For the next two days, we are learning about FOOD CHAINS. You should be able to interpret (read and explain) food chains and construct food chains of your own, using key terms such as PRODUCER, PREDATOR and PREY.

Watch and listen to the below video carefully. It will help you to explain the picture in your Lesson Plan afterwards.
