Welcome back, Year 2!

 

I hope you had a lovely half term and were able to relax and fully recharge laugh

 

We're very excited to get started on our new enquiry but as you

might have seen, we're not revealing what it is just yet.

 

Join our zooms this morning to work out as a class what we will

be learning about this term.

Here is your suggested timetable for the day

Maths

  • Watch the video ‘Lines of Symmetry’ on the Year 2 page.
  • Complete questions 1-3.
  • Watch the video of Miss Williams drawing shapes with a line of symmetry on Tapestry.
  • Complete questions 4-5.
  • Extension: Have a go at the extension questions.

Phonics/SPaG

  • Head to Tapestry to find your group’s assigned phonics/SPaG activity.

Break

  • Grab a healthy snack and get outside for some fresh air for a run around, a kick around or a bit of fresh air.

  • Today we’ll be working out what our new enquiry is for the term!
  • Come and join us for a lesson but also for a catch up and to ask any question you have.

Enquiry

  • Join the zoom to find out what our enquiry will be about this term!
  • Look at the pictures of the artefacts and have a guess what they are and what they were used for.
  • Write or make a video sharing everything you already know about our enquiry or what you have guessed about our enquiry using the pictures of the artefacts.

SPaG

Today there are 2 SPaG activities.
Everyone needs to have a go at Activity 1.

  • Practise the spellings following the instructions in the table.
  • Fill in the missing words in the sentences using the spelling you have practised.

Activity 2 is optional but if you have received a text telling you to complete Activity 2 please do.

  • Look through the PowerPoint ‘Using commas to separate items in a list’,

Rewrite the sentences using commas and ‘and’.

Lunch

  • Enjoy some lunch and get outside for fresh air.

Reading

  • Sign into your Bug Club account and pick a book to read.
  • Read your chosen book and complete the activities as you go along.

English

  • Listen to the first pages of our new book on the Year 2 page.
  • Watch the video of what London looked like in 1666.
  • Create a mind map of all the things you can see in London in 1666.
  • Watch the video again but now thinking of how you would describe those things you could see. Think about all your senses!
  • Create a list of adjectives and noun phrases under each sense (sight, smell, hearing, touch) to describe London in 1666.
  • Challenge: Use a thesaurus or online thesaurus to find some more interesting adjectives.
