Apart from selecting your favourite book and a lovely transition activity this afternoon from your new Year 4 teacher, the rest of today’s activities are all about 3D shapes.

Find out what it means.  Write it in your book. 

9:00am  Read to an adult 

Write the short date, book title and pages read in your exercise book. 

Reminder, if you are working on Lexia, you should be using it 15 minutes today as well.

It’s time to have some fun constructing your own 3D shapes.  You can do it inside or outside using any materials. Challenge yourself to make them all.

Hello and welcome Year 3. Mrs Patel and I cannot wait to meet you all in September! Today, we are making hands. Now hands don't have tongues or teeth but they are BRILLIANT because we can use them to say things. Can you believe it? Have a look at the pictures below. Can you match the picture with the correct speech bubble?  

We are going to be creating class displays using our hands. When we have all done our hands, it will look something like this. 

Every petal is unique, but put them together and we know they're a flower! A bit like us. We are all different, but together in September, we will be Year 4.

Follow the attached instructions to make your own hand. If you want, you can always make more than one. Here are some of the skills you will need to complete the task successfully:

Look at and read the instructions carefully. You DO NOT need to copy the pattern shown here. You might decide to use dots, zigzags, rainbow strips, stars ... anything that you think is going to be colourful and eye-catching. Good luck and enjoy!

The last step is to cut your patterned hand out. It is quite a tricky shape so you may or may not want to ask an adult to help you. Now keep you hand somewhere safe (and flat) until September.
