Monday 1st February 2021

This week is Children’s Mental Health Week. Make sure you take some time out for yourself to relax, reflect and ‘Express Yourself’ by sharing feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through things like art, writing, music, dance and baking. We hope that by doing things that make you feel good, you can improve your mental health, especially when facing tough situations or difficult times. smiley

11:30 - 12:30 - English

We are focusing on poetry this week and will be writing a special type of poem about Ella’s voice at the end of the week. Read Lesson 1 - Responding to poetry. Take your time to read, enjoy and discuss each of the poems. Talk to someone else about what you like about them. Here are some questions to help you:

  • Did you picture/visualise a person or a place as you read the poem?
  • Was there a particular subject you liked reading about most of all?
  • Was there a word or phrase that stood out for you?

Then complete your Poem Reviews.

Some of the poems were written by the Year 4 class last year. Can you guess which ones? The answers are in Learning Resources.

Reduce the time spent sitting or lying down and break up long periods of not moving with some activity.

PSHE

This week is Children’s Mental Health Week, therefore we will thinking more about our feelings and ways to ‘Express Yourself’ which is this year’s theme!

Look through ‘PSHE – Express Yourself’ which explains what expressing yourself means and offers different ways to express yourself. Your task is to then find a way to express yourself! This could be singing, dancing, baking, painting, drawing, origami, playing music, creating a song and much more. Take a look at slide 5 on the PowerPoint for more ideas. There are some mindfulness colouring sheets in Learning Resources and there are some links below to help you ‘Express Yourself’.
