- Find out what it means and write the definition in your own words!  
- What is its word class?  

- How many syllables does it have (clap each syllable to help you)?

- Make a list of synonyms and antonyms  

- Can you use it in an interesting sentence? 

Are you able to use it, appropriately, when you are speaking or in any of your writing opportunities?  

Reading

Today is the start of something new... we are going to begin guided reading similar to how we would in school. On the reading tab, on the previous webpage, you will find the eBook saved and a set of Challenges to complete relating to the book. 

Maths :

Today and tomorrow we will continue learning about multiplication and division and following that we will be learning about perimter and area. For today, the worksheets are still on the White Rose website as normal, but from tomorrow they will be placed in the Maths documents below as they disappear from the White Rose website.

Planning your discussion text - the introduction  

Today I would like us to think about the introduction for your discussion text.  

‘Do you think Dad should have called for Winnie’s help?’ 

What is a discussion text/balanced argument? What should you include in the introduction? 

Next, look at the PDF which has Example Introductions. Before you look at the answers on the second page see if you can work out what the discussion text is about. Were you right or wrong?  

Then, under a subheading in your topic book, make notes of what you would like to include in your introductory paragraph. You may choose to write a draft of your paragraph. Remember if you are drafting when you write it up in a couple of days' times you need to improve it. To help you improve it you could ask someone to help at home.

Did you know that even before you eat (just smelling, seeing or even thinking about tasty food), your mouth begins to water? A clear liquid called saliva (su-lie-vuh) forms in your mouth and triggers digestion. But WHY? We’re going to find out what happens after you’ve bitten your food and begun chewing by conducting an experiment and then recording our understanding.

Look at the resources and make sure you bite off a little more than you can chew (check that idiom with your parents) to ensure challenge in your learning!
