Reading

The Cup Final 

Read the text all about the world’s oldest football tournament! The text has been spilt into different subheadings to make it easier to find information. 

Answer the questions. It might be helpful to underline key words in the questions to remind you of what to look for. 

Maths

Multiply and Divide by 7 

Practice counting forwards and backwards in 7s. Can you quiz yourself on the 7 times tables?  

Can you show 5 x 7 in different ways? Have a look at the example below to help you.

We are going to focus on an area of grammar we briefly looked at yesterday: pronouns. Here's a little warm-up for you.

Can you believe there are 5 different types of pronoun? Here they are:

 personal

 possessive

 relative

 reflexive

 demonstrative

Your job is to sort the pronouns into the correct category using the Pronoun Sort (in Learning Resources). Good luck!

Writing 

Use the Explanation Poster below to help you identify key features we would expect to see in an explanation text using the WAGOLLS found in Learning Resources. You can print the text off and highlight/annotate or write examples of the feature directly into your book. Although the poster says present tense, past tense can also be used especially when writing about historical subjects. Also, a temporal conjunction is a time conjunction  e.g. first, finally, meanwhile, next and we will focus on these more next week.

Days of the Week Recap - Take a look at the worksheet and complete the tasks. 

Today we will be looking at different ways to write ‘a’ before nouns. For example, a banana, a sock, a classroom. 

In French, the letter ‘a’ before a noun can be written in three different ways, ‘un’, ‘une’ or ‘des’. We are going to be looking at ‘un’ and ‘une’ today.  

We can decide whether to use ‘un’ or ‘une’ before a noun depending on whether the noun is masculine (male - un) or feminine (female - une). 

Let’s look at some words we have learnt: 

un manteau - a coat (Is this noun masculine (male) or feminine (female)?) 

une echarpe - a scarf (Is this noun masculine (male) or feminine (female)?) 

Have a look at the next French worksheet. Can you arrange these items into masculine and feminine? 

Research some other masculine and feminine nouns in French. Write them down with the correct word for ‘a’.
