To celebrate World Book Day and the last day of Remote Learning, we have lots of fun activiites for you to try. So enjoy your last day at home and we look forward to seeing you on Monday at 8.45am. How exciting!

It's been lovely to have so many of you join us for the calls so far. Make sure you have a paper and pen ready for the session, to make notes of key learning points and to be able to join in with the tasks :-).

Look up what the word means, what word group it belongs to and place it accurately into a sentence.

Spelling Revision: Special Focus Challenge 7!  

Work through the given sheet, which we would usually see in our Orange Spelling Book. You may have done this before, but these activities are focusing on words which have unique spelling rules so it’s good to practice.  

Complete the questions given on the sheet. 

11:30-12:15   English/Writing. 

Could you be the next new children’s author?- take your favourite character on a new adventure.  

Even though we are so lucky to live where we do (Tonbridge has a castle, a river, a brilliant park), how many times over the past few weeks have you thought about visiting somewhere else?

If you have read Rooftoppers you may want to buy this next book with your World Book Day Voucher. 

• Now, like Katherine says, take your favourite character on their own wild adventure.  
• Will they explore the pyramids, an Egyptian tomb, the Amazon, the beach, the Burj Khalifa or outer space? You name it they can go there. Draw a picture and brainstorm your ideas.  
• Then write your character’s adventure in your own mini-tale.  

Remember, we’d love to see any work you get up to so that we can show it on Tapestry.

Like we would in class with our class book, spend some time quiet reading or listening to the class book, The Time Travelling Cat. The teachers have uploaded videos of themselves reading different chapters on Tapestry, so be sure to check :-).

Yesterday's Q:  Which is the most interesting non-fiction book you have read and why?   

Miss Martin: I really like the books 'Botanicum' and 'Animalium'.... They have incredible drawings and images of different animals and plants... I could sit there all day looking at them, marvelling at just how wonderful and diverse the world around us, is!  

Miss Chapman: David Attenborough - Our Planet. We have just got these books to add to our Year 5 book corners and I couldn't be more thrilled. They are gorgeous. The images which have been caputured alongside the information just blows me away. 

Mrs Hudson: Sister Wendy's book of Art is a book I go back to time and time again. Sister Wendy was a nun, who was really keen on art. She would guide you around famous works of art, thinking carefully about the artist and their style. The book has huge blown up images of the pictures, so you can really see the images and brush strokes. I often go to it. 

Today's Q: If you were abandoned on a desert island which book would you take with you?
