Get ready for the day with independence; have a wash, dress yourself, eat breakfast and brush your teeth. 

0900-0930 - Reading 

Rewatch 'The King of Tiny Things' for the final time this week. Today we have some comprehension questions about the story to discuss and answer.   

1. Where did the girls go to stay? What did they think the King of Tiny Things was to start with? 

2. How did Chrissy feel about the slug at first? 

3. What did the King teach the girls? 

4. Why did the girls need to fish the King from the pond? How do you think they felt? 

5. The King shed his skin at the end of the story.

6. Can you think about some animals that do the same thing? 

0930-1000- Writing Challenge 

To warm up, start with some Handwriting.  Watch Mrs Cunningham's video on Tapestry, we are writing - 'qu'. 

Today we would like you to continue to make your setting for your own King or Queen character to live in. Don't forget you may choose to draw, paint, model with playdough or maybe even make a garden in a box. You might want to use soil, grass, pebbles, a yoghurt pot pond, some small flowers or pine cones for trees.  You could even make a mini cut out of your King or Queen character to add to your garden setting and some of the ‘Tiny Things’ from the story too! Please share your creations with us on Tapestry. 

1000-1030- Home Learning Challenge (to continue after Break Time until 1130)

1030-1100 Break Time 

Have one healthy snack: a banana, apple, orange etc.  with a glass of milk or water.  Take some time to relax, maybe you could listen to another story online.   

1100 - 1130- Home Learning Challenge 

Continue your Home Learning Challenge that you started – don’t forget to try and upload it to Tapestry so that we can see it!  

1130 - 1200 – Maths Challenge 

Warm up by counting to 20, forwards and backwards.  You could also rewatch Ms Woolford's number writing videos on Tapestry to help with your number formation - use the search bar and type in 'Maths writing number ...' to find the video you want.

For your maths challenge today, log on to Tapestry to see all the 'Tiny Things' potions we have been sent by Reception. Choose one to try. Is it like yours? Why is it different? What colour is it? Was it easy to follow? Is it better? What do you like/dislike about it? Making sure you do careful counting when making your potion and adding the ingredients. 

1200 - 1300 - Lunchtime 

1300- 1330 - Phonics 

Open Tapestry and watch the video ‘Set 1 Speed Sounds.’  Say the sounds along with Miss Bailey; can you remember them all and say them before she does?  You should watch and say your Speed Sounds every single day.   

For Phonics today, revisit the two sounds that we have learnt this week - can you remember them both?

After you have recapped your new sounds, we would like you to choose a story from the Oxford Owl website to read.  Follow the link below and create a free login to read a book independently. 

Choose a book suitable for your child.  Books go in order - 1) Sound Blending - 2) Red - 3) Green - 4) Purple - 5) Pink.  Other books are read in Year 1.  Children should be able to read all words in a book independently.
