Read the text all about the author Malorie Blackman! Answer the questions on the sheet. Found out about her early life and how she became a writer. It might be helpful to underline key words in the questions to remind you of what to look for. Can you spot any features of a biography?

Fronted adverbials provide more information about how, when or where events have taken place. If an adverbial phrase is placed at the beginning of the sentence, a comma is used punctuate it (just like the sentence you’ve just read!). Work through Fronted Adverbials - Questions (in Learning Resources). If you have log-in details for Lexia and Spellzone, spend 5 or 10 minutes working through them.

Today you will be multiplying a 3-digit number by a 1-digit number using column multiplication. You will need to regroup (carry over) today. Today, you are going to re-write the dramatic scene from Ella’s story using descriptive writing. The reader can already see the picture but you are aiming to provide even more detail using expanded noun phrases and subordinate clauses to create complex sentences. Use your ideas from Wednesday and your practice sentences from Thursday to help you. Read Lesson 5 - Describe a Scene to help you.

Afternoon - Wider Curriculum 

French - Saying food names and sharing opinions about food items

Practice saying and pronouncing food names using the French Food powerpoint to help you. Watch Video 1 and use your listening skills to identify which foods the teacher likes and dislikes. In Video 2, use the sentence stems in the lesson plan to help you respond in full sentences about foods you like and dislike. Then, cut out the food pictures and write sentences stating your opinion about them.
