Get ready for the day with independence; have a wash, dress yourself, eat breakfast and brush your teeth. 

0900-0930 - Reading 

Today we have some comprehension questions about 'The Bog Baby' to discuss and answer.   

1. Where did the girls find the Bog Baby? 

2. Where they allowed to go to fishing? Do you think it’s ok that they didn’t listen to their Mum? 

3. What flowers were around the edge of the pond? 

4. Can you remember any of the descriptive language for the Bog Baby? (round and blue, ears like a mouse etc.) 

5. Why did the Bog Baby get sick? 

6. Why couldn’t the girls tell their Mum about the Bog Baby? 

7. What did the girls need to do to make the Bog Baby better? 

8. Do you think the Bog Baby was real? Why do you think this? 

9. Can you go on your own Bog Baby hunt? You could even design your own Bog Baby.  

0930-1000- Writing Challenge 

To warm up, start with some Handwriting - you could rewatch one of Mrs Cunningham's videos on Tapestry.

Today if you have already finished your Bog Baby home, you can think about designing your own creature that could live in the woods. Just like the Bog Baby is an imagined creature, we would like you to imagine your very own creature. Maybe it might live in the trees, or underground rather than in a pond. Maybe it might be able to fly or have special magic powers. It can be any size, colour, shape that you wish. Once you have designed your own creature, we would like you to name the species that you have created and write a sentence or two about it. We can’t wait to see all of these on Tapestry.  

1000-1030- Home Learning Challenge (to continue after Break Time until 1130)

1030-1100 Break Time 

Have one healthy snack: a banana, apple, orange etc.  with a glass of milk or water.  Take some time to relax, maybe you could listen to another story online.   

1100 - 1130- Home Learning Challenge 

Continue your Home Learning Challenge that you started – don’t forget to try and upload it to Tapestry so that we can see it!  

1130 - 1200 – Maths Challenge 

Starter: Warm up by counting to 20, forwards and backwards.  How have you been doing with your Number of the Day Challenges?  If there are still some numbers that you find tricky, continue to look at a different number each day.  Practise being able to recognise your numbers to 20, in and out of order.  

This week is going to be a little bit different for Maths.  We have spent another full term learning at home so we are going to take this time to review the things that we have learnt.  There are three Maths Challenge Grids all pitched at different levels:  

Mild (below expected (1)), Medium (expected level (2)) and Hot (above expected (3)).    

We would like you to choose one Maths Challenge to complete each day based on your child’s learning needs and current understanding.  We will complete a challenge on the grid each day right up until the last day of term - Wednesday 22nd July.  Choose your challenges from the most appropriate level for your child.    

1200 - 1300 - Lunchtime 

1300- 1330 - Phonics 

Open Tapestry and watch the video ‘Set 1 Speed Sounds.’  Say the sounds along with Miss Bailey; can you remember them all and say them before she does?  You should watch and say your Speed Sounds every single day.   

For Phonics today, revisit the two new sounds we have learnt this week and read your green and red words. 

Now it’s time for Forest School all afternoon!  Choose a Forest School Challenge from the website (choose a challenge from any day) and get ready for some super outdoor learning.

Transition

This week Miss Wilson and Miss Jeffery have been providing you with lots of activities so that you can get to know each other. In the additional resources at the bottom of the page we have provided a social story about the transition into Year 1. Please share this with your child as it will hopefully answer some of the questions they may have. It is good to go over this throughout the summer to help prepare for September.
