Welcome to Sussex Road School Art
Our art curriculum offers the children opportunities to explore their thinking about what art and to develop a vision of what art is. The children learn to see art as a form of communication - what does the artist want us to think/feel/do after viewing the artwork? We place an emphasis on the process rather than the outcome, providing opportunities to explore a range of skills and techniques using high quality resources. Children are given the freedom to make their own choices, to experiment and to develop confidence in themselves as artists. Through self-monitoring and evaluation, the children develop an understanding of artworks they do and do not like and an give reasons for their choices.
